Indian hotels and tourism to get infrastructure tag

Speaking at a discussion organised by FICCI on `Impact of global meltdown and terrorism: India tourism fights back’ the Tourism Secretary, Sujit Banerjee, said he had spoken to the RBI deputy governor earlier this month to allow the hospitality sector to be given infrastructure status.

With the tourism industry falling on hard times, the ministry is lobbying with various authorities including Reserve Bank of India
(RBI) to get infrastructure status for the sector to ensure growth can continue.

Tourism leaders strongly emphasised the need for unified thought and action in staving off and fighting crises such as global slowdown and the terrorist attacks in Mumbai. They called for a long-term strategy for the tourism sector, the need for structured reform and concerted action to communicate to the world the recovery process undertaken by the government and the Indian tourism industry.

The raised issues are not only concerned with Indian tourism industry but the global meltdown has hit the tourism industry of every country. Long term Govt. tie-ups with reputed tour management companies like the one http://travel.justluxe.com/ and extending some tax relaxation may be a boost up dose for the slow going tourism industry.
